This weekend inservice course was held in St. Patrick’s College of Education, Drumcondra on March 10th-11th 2000. Over 100 teachers from schools in 12 counties attended the course and it was deemed a great success. Fuaim hopes to organise many similar events in the future.

Fuaim is indebted to all those who supported this event: The InCareer Development Unit at the Department of Education and Science, St. Patrick's College of Education, Waltons World of Music, Music Maker, Education Music Services and Opus II. The committee also acknowledges the support provided by the Danish and Norwegian Embassies (Dublin) for Friday night's reception. Presenters

Lars Storck Associate Professor, percussionist, composer from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, Copenhagen, Denmark, offers students special training where stepping, clapping, co-ordination, voice, polyrhythms and percussion add up to become the subject rhythm training. He has been an inventor and pioneer in this field having lived and studied in Africa. Humour and playfulness are the hallmarks of Storck’s work while maintaining high artistic and musical goals.

Magne Espeland Associate Professor of Music Education from Stord/Haugesund University College, Norway, teaches music education at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. His musical interests and specialties include curriculum studies, music methodology for the general music classroom, indigenous musics, and research methodology for music education. In recent years, he has chaired work on the new Norwegian National Curriculum for Music for Primary and Secondary Schools.

Patricia Flynn studied in University College Dublin and to doctoral level at the University of Huddersfield. She was a key facilitator in the innovative Arts in the Classroom in Wexford and has given numerous presentations in Ireland and in the UK. Currently she teaches in the Music Department at St. Patrick's College of Education.

Mary Ryng is a primary teacher who has been engaged in innovative classroom practice and inservice for several years in the Cork area. A member of the NCCA arts committee, Mary has completed her masters degree at the University of Leeds and is currently embarking on a doctoral programme in music education.

John Gearty, immediate past chair of Córfhéile na Scoileanna, treasurer of Fuaim, and an experienced classroom teacher in the Dublin area, has been directing choirs and instrumental groups for many years. A talented musician and accomplished pianist and violinist, John's most recent musical passion has been for the Stradivarius Saw!
